Barberville Falls Information Meeting

The Nature Conservancy has been discussing transferring the Barberville Falls to the Town of Poestenkill.   The Barberville Falls is a notable natural landmark in the Town and carries the waters of the Poesten Kill off the Rensselaer Plateau to the lower elevations of the county.  Many of those who live in Poestenkill and surrounding area have spent time at the falls.

An informational session will be held on May 4, 2017 at the Poestenkill Town Hall, 38 Davis Drive, Poestenkill, NY at 7 PM by the Poestenkill Town Board to offer information on TNCís offer and for the public to ask questions and offer their suggestions on this potential acquisition.

The property identified for transfer is 138 acres located between Plank RD, Blue Factory Road and Davitt Lake Road.   Only half the falls is owned by TNC while the other half is privately owned.   Several hundred feet of the Poesten Kill runs through the property.  During 2015 and 2016 the Falls Citizen Advisory Committee made several suggestions regarding the acquisition
