Poestenkill Seniors
Mature residents of the Town of Poestenkill are invited to join the "Poestenkill Seniors.” The group meets at 1:00pm-3:30pm on Tuesdays at the Sullivan Jones VFW Post (on Veterans Road in the Poestenkill hamlet.) The business portion of the meetings usually last 30 minutes and may include guest speakers, followed by coffee and a treat. Members socialize after the meeting with a game of cards or bingo.
The group arranges field trips to locations like Lake George, the Log Cabin, the Mac-Haydn Theatre, Saratoga Springs, and more! If you’re interested or have questions, call Carol Hynes at 518-283-6278.

Rensselaer County Offers Services for Seniors
HEAP
The Home Energy Assistance Program operates on a seasonal basis from November to April. Households with income within the guidelines can receive assistance with heating fuel. Checks are sent directly to the fuel dealer the recipient chooses. Emergency assistance is available until September 30th of each year for households in danger of utility shut-off. LONG TERM HOME CARE
The Department administers the provision of home care programs to allow disabled individuals to remain in their own homes. Home care programs provide personal care aide and other health care services to Medicaid recipients. Clients receiving the service must have a medical problem/condition documented by a physician, which interferes with the ability to perform daily living activities, i.e. bathing, dressing, meal preparation.
